Visit the Eudora Welty House, a national historic landmark in Jackson. It is home of the internationally recognized, Pulitzer Prize winning author Eudora Welty. Visit the Oaks House Museum, which is the oldest residence in Jackson. It was residence of James H. Boyd, longtime mayor of Jackson. Three generations of the Boyd family lived here. The Mississippi Governor’s Mansion is one of the finest examples of the Greek revival –style architecture in Mississippi. Designed by William Nicholas, it has an impressive facade and magnificent interiors. It is the one of the first residence of Mississippi governors and was first acquired by Governor Tilghman Tucker in 1842, and continues to house the other governors of the state. This mansion encompasses the early phases of the Mississippi history. It features period furnishings and exhibits that illustrate the story of the site.
